With par facilities in beautiful surroundings, Pafos is the latest destination on the golfing map, a place where you can play the game all year round.
There are four 18 hole top class golf courses in the Pafos region, while a few others currently under construction. Situated in peaceful surroundings amidst landscaped hills with spectacular views, these offer, clubhouses, shops, hotels and all the necessary facilities. They are far from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist resorts, yet near enough for easy access.
For those who appreciate a technical track where it wiser to turn right than far so you will more than satisfied. Minthis Hills was designed by the legendary Donald Steel and opened in 1996 and was then called Tsada Golf Club. The course has since been completely rebuilt with a number of new holes and a new elegant clubhouse. Minthis Hills is situated in a valley at 550 meters above the town of Paphos, which means that the winter is a few degrees cooler to play this track than the others.
This is one of the Mediterranean's most spectacular courses, perfectly maintained and always in excellent condition. It's not very difficult to play and once you have mastered the lightning-fast greens, you can get a good score. The course, which opened in 2003 is outsourced to two mountain plateaus and place in the golf cart is mandatory and is included in the green fee. The clubhouse and restaurant are top class. A round at Aphrodite Hills is a "must" for golfers visiting Cyprus.
Paphos newest golf course, which opened October 2010. The course was designed by Sir Nick Faldo. The quality of the tee, fairway and greens are the very best, not to mention all the strategically outsourced bowls. The track is, except for one hole, fairly easy to play for high handicap but much more difficult for those with lower handicap because they choose to play it from the white tees. Elea has a very good training system that makes the path to a first choice for the pro groups that come here.
Gorgeously located in a valley, where the floral display is overwhelming throughout the year, and the towering mountain sides surrounding the banana impress. The clubhouse is cozy and has a very good and has a very popular restaurant. Right now, only the final nine holes of the old path open because Secret Valley is being built out to Cyprus's largest golf facility with two 18-hole courses. The reconstruction does not interfere with the activities of the club.
